We had a couple of birthdays to celebrate in the first weeks of June… so what better way to celebrate than to rent a farmhouse in Gozo!
On a Friday evening after work, 10 of us made our way to the other island. Some went by bus, motorbike or scooter, but we all eventually made it there in time for a big dinner and a late night pool party. This “farmhouse” was located in a small town just outside of Victoria, on the other end of Gozo and had an outdoor pool, indoor jacuzzi, plenty of sleeping areas and a BBQ — we had all we needed!
Each night, we made a big group dinner that usually had a Sicilian twist due to popular demand and having amazing cooks, I mean… friends. During the day, we relaxed in the sun and cooled down in the pool. It really felt like we were in a different country and that all ties to Malta were lost. We ventured out of the house for a couple of walks and to stock up on food and drinks, but everything was really close by so we didn’t have to go far.
These “farmhouses” are very typical of the Maltese. A lot of families will book a week away in July or August and move their entire families to a big house in Gozo or a far-away city (10 km away max) in Malta. And after our weekend in Gozo, I can understand why!
